My name is Fahri and I am Indonesian. I started Club Med in May 2013, in Bintan Island as a Bartender G.O. Before that, I was a bartender for 6 years in a 5-star resort, in Bintan Island. Working there was totally different from Club Med, mainly because you have to keep a distance with the guests, even with the staff sometimes. I used to meet friends in the town center, near our resorts, and this is where I first heard of Club Med. My friends could not stop talking about their life there, how they enjoyed it and I thought I should give it a try. I spent 2 seasons (1 year) in Club Med Bintan Island, then moved to Club Med Bali and came back to Bintan, as a bartender G.O.
What I like in Club Med is that it is unique and different from all other resorts. The staff and guests enjoy together, they spend time together, you can talk to them and get to know them, which is not possible in “normal” resorts. I also like to be a bartender because I can create my own drinks and it is the best place to talk to the guests. Satisfaction is always number one, but you do it with your heart, like in everyday life in Indonesia.
Working in Club Med has brought me a lot. I have more responsibilities in my work but it is also easier for me to talk to people, I found a new family and friends and I got to speak Bahasa, English and learn Japanese, French and Mandarin. In the future, I want to continue to serve people with my heart by becoming a Manager or Supervisor.
